The PGI MSK Radiology Course is an independent, non-profit academic initiative led by the faculty members of the Musculoskeletal Radiology section, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. Established with the vision of advancing excellence in musculoskeletal imaging education, the course serves as a dedicated platform for high-quality teaching, academic interaction, and professional development in the field of musculoskeletal radiology.
Conducted annually, usually during the last week of February or the first week of March, the programme is designed for radiology residents, fellows, and practising radiologists seeking structured and practical learning in musculoskeletal imaging. The course emphasizes evidence-based learning, case-based discussions, and contemporary imaging approaches relevant to everyday clinical practice. The programme also includes live musculoskeletal ultrasound demonstrations and hands-on USG workshops, allowing participants to gain practical exposure to basic as well as advanced MSK ultrasound. In addition to academic lectures and interactive sessions, the course encourages active scholarly participation through scientific oral and poster presentations, providing participants with an opportunity to present research work, share interesting cases, and engage in academic discussion with peers and faculty. The course also features an engaging resident quiz competition with exciting prizes, aimed at promoting interactive learning and academic enthusiasm among trainees.
Initiated in 2025, the programme has successfully completed two annual conferences and continues to grow as a focused educational forum for musculoskeletal radiology in India. In addition to its flagship annual conference, the initiative actively conducts outreach educational programmes in regions where musculoskeletal radiology is not yet a routine part of radiology practice, with the aim of improving awareness, training, and accessibility to subspecialty education.
As part of its ongoing academic activities, the course also features a “Case of the Month” section, updated regularly with high-quality and educational musculoskeletal radiology cases. These curated cases are intended to promote practical learning, improve diagnostic approach, and encourage continuous engagement with musculoskeletal imaging among trainees and practising radiologists alike.
Beyond academics, the PGI MSK Radiology Course remains committed to meaningful social welfare initiatives. Over the years, the programme has organized activities aimed at supporting underprivileged children, including the distribution of educational materials such as school bags, stationery, notebooks, and other learning essentials to needy students. These initiatives reflect the course’s broader commitment to social responsibility, education, and community welfare alongside excellence in radiology teaching.
